Types of bets: Multiple bets

An accumulator is a combined bet where there are two or more unrelated selections used for the betting market. In order to receive a prize, each such selection must necessarily win or be refunded, i.e. an expense under certain circumstances.

The odds of such a combined compound bet will be equal to the product of all selections and odds that are included in it. The winnings on the accumulator will potentially be the product of the total amount of the bet made and the odds of the accumulator. If, on the other hand, there is an expense in such a bet, i.e. a return, then the selection receives a coefficient equal to 1, which is used to calculate the express bet. This situation is observed when the bet includes a handicap (0) in a drawn match.

The potential profit with this type of bet will increase as the number of selections increases. The higher the ratio, the greater the potential profit, but the risks in this situation are considerable. That is, the more events are observed in such a complex bet, the more a player can gain or lose. It is for this property that bets are called difficult, especially for beginners.

There is no limit to the number of selections for an accumulator, but the minimum value is two. The maximum number is set individually by each individual bookmaker, which allows the player to choose the best conditions for himself. For example, for the Betfair exchange, the maximum allowed number of events can be eight, and for the Marathon bookmaker’s office, this value is twenty. In Pari-Match, the coefficient cannot be more than 2000, and for Marathon, the value is only 1000.

It should be noted that professional bettors usually prefer not to use parlay bets. This is due to the fact that an increase in the number of bets and choices can cause advantages for the bookmaker, but not for the bettor.
